where is my mind?

Lottie, Bournemouth girl currently studying Visual Culture at Brighton University.

Not really sure what this is anymore. This used to be a blog of my own photography and inspirational bits & bobs whilst I studied and practiced photography on an almost daily basis. Now I think i'll use this space to just ramble on about rubbish, post interesting photo's and to document recent social activities.

Healthy Eating

So, unfortunately the healthy eating starts from today, I went to Asda and managed to do a relatively cheap food shop consisting of lots of salad, apples, green tea etc which should sort me out. I’m 100% determined to lose weight before Ibiza and summer so it WILL happen. Lots of uni work to do at the moment as well, thankfully I only have about 7 weeks left here.. hurrrrayyy.

I need to write a little to do list on Tumblr I think to remind me to stop procrastinating.

Back to Brighton

So, i’m just going to have a little ramble about my weekend really.. came back to Brighton last Thursday to see Pryda presents Eric Prydz at Digital. Was really gutted to be leaving Bournemouth actually as it didn’t take long to get a routine going, seeing friends going to the gorgeous Sandbanks etc felt quite holiday like.

But anyway, Demi drove us east with Rumer and Emma and surprisingly we didn’t die or end up in Manchester. I really imagined it to be a repeat of Thorpe park with Simmone… where we ended up driving up the wrong side of the motorway and having dinner at 10pm in a service station. It didn’t take us long to get to Brighton, we dropped all the bags off at mine and went food shopping for munchies and ended up spending about 45 quid on pretty much one weekend, how?! I also decided to try and made some skittles vodka which was extremely basic (skittles in a bottle of vodka wow) and actually made the vodka bearable. Getting ready proved to be a bit of a challenge every night with 4 girls using my mirrors and only one see through shower cubicle in my room…. nakedness.

Eric Prydz set was amazing as expected, wasn’t as drunk as I would have liked so I ended up forgetting i’m a poor student (as usual) and buying drinks out.. the sound system in Digital is absolutely crazy, the climax from one of the last songs made our lungs vibrate. Ended up getting home at about 5am to get into our duvets/pj’s and have a smoke outside the cafe next door and to stargaze using the iphone app. Pretty weird night overall.

We had a real touristy day on Friday, went and had a huge lunch at a restaurant by the pier and had a little mooch and shop, at one point we stopped a group of chinese people taking photos and asked them to get one of us all together with the pier in the background. She kindly obliged but went on to insult my friend emma by pointing out her face is black which absolutely cracked us up since she was only referring to the shadow, poor bitch felt terrible.
We were supposed to go out every night but decided to just stay in…. they forced me to watch the Butterfly effect one night which was the trippiest thing i’ve ever watched and I got real upset when they set fire to the dog. Smoked way too much this weekend so I think i’m gunna give it a break for a while and save some money and my health too as it’s not big nor clever.
My house was crazy at the end of the weekend, like rice, chicken nuggets and porridge grains everywhere mostly from a drunken Emma but I had the lovely job of cleaning it all up and the place is now spotless (FINALLY). There is no reason why it can’t just stay like this all the time… mouldy shit on the side in the sink/kitchen makes me feel real sick. This week is all about doing nothing really and watching films with my friend, i’m taking advantage of having the house to myself. I neeeeed May to hurry up, can’t wait until Rumer comes to live with me!

Beach Days

So the gorgeous weather has vanished and Britain is back to normality in March. No more white linen, sandals or sunnies. Fortunately I live a walk away from Bournemouth beach as well as Brighton beach when i’m at uni. I spent my Wednesday on Bournemouth beach getting rather burnt, drinking fruit cider and swimming in the sea till late with those brave enough to just dive for it!

Unbelievable blue sky!

Friendships.

They say you meet your lifelong friends at university and find out your true friends from home. From my experience of uni so far, i’d say that’s hit the nail on the head. I’m so glad i’ve really invested time keeping in touch with the people I love and the people that matter. It’s nice to have best friends who may not be there in person all the time, but who are always there in spirit.. only a tweet or phonecall away and i’m so grateful for these fabulous people!

Looking back I find it strange how I expected everything to unravel and how my relationships just kinda choose themselves. I really did believe I would become best friends with certain people, at first I put my heart and soul into making it work but when you just can’t help but feel uncomfortable and unnatural around people you’ve just gotta let it go. It’s always a shame when the milk turns sour but onwards and upwards is the only way to go!

I’ve met so many special characters since moving to uni and i’m lucky enough to be sharing a house with 5 of them next year. It’s crazy how unexpected some friendships really are and how someone I really wasn’t overly keen to meet has now turned out to become one of my best friends and I wouldn’t be without her! Just sum’s it all up really, I need to remember not to jump to conclusions. I’m absolutely ecstatic for summer and can’t wait for September when we move in our new house, still in a brilliant location in Brighton. We move in the day after my 21st so it’s a lovely birthday present to myself!

Lulworth Cove is so gorgeous, this was taken last year. I really plan to make the most of my hometown and it’s surroundings. We’re so lucky to live in a naturally beautiful area. I’m going to post a few of my personal images just for a little catch up. View high resolution
